Three years ago, Doran and Ettie Tregarthen moved from Orange County to Pasadena, and became members of St. Edmund’s. The Tregarthens, both 94, have been prevented by infirmity from attending here on Sundays, but Fr. George and I have the privilege of sharing communion with this vivacious couple. Doran had a full career as superintendent of school districts up and down California. Then he was ordained an Episcopal priest. He has come to the Men’s Breakfast on occasion. He and Ettie once participated in an archaeological dig on the coast of Israel. They have a granddaughter, Brittany, who has just won multiple medals in weightlifting in these L. A. Special Olympics.
Last week, Doran died following successive heart attacks. He lived each day with joy, and is prepared to meet his Maker. Ettie is sustained by a warm and loving family. This week, we give thanks for Doran’s life and ministry; and we ask God’s healing touch for Ettie, and for their children and grandchildren.
In Christ’s love,
Fr. Colville+
