The Right Reverend Michael Curry; Elected
On June 27th, the House of Bishops, with the House of Deputies of the Episcopal Church concurring, elected the next Primate and Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. The Right Reverend Michael Curry is currently the Bishop of North Carolina, and will be enthroned at the National Cathedral in November, succeeding the Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Shori as she concludes her nine year term.
This is the first time in the history of the Episcopal Church that a Bishop has been elected Primate on the first ballot.
