The Forty Days of Lent arrived with Ash Wednesday as the disciplines of reflection, change of heart, self-denial and giving are encouraged among the faithful. “Is this not the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to brek every yoke?” wrote that old prophetic agitator Isaiah.
Genuine transformation is incremental. It begins with discernment, fresh spiritual commitment, and external expression of that commitment.
May God work among us for grace and good this holy season as we rend our hearts for the living of our days.
