St Edmund's Episcopal Church San Marino

The Fifth Sunday After Epiphany, February 7th, 2015

I write from San Salvador where I am attending the annual board meeting for Foundation Cristosal. Board member Gail Rolfe is huddled with the Treasurer preparing final documents, and La Marela Hotel has upgraded since last year’s meeting, allowing me to complete Edmund’s Notes.

We had a good 75th Annual Meeting last Sunday. Canon Heffron preached a fine sermon, and we heard the Rector’s Report, the Senior Wardens’s Report, a Finance Report, and the Youth Director’s Report. Many commented on how much they enjoyed the move from the parish hall back into the Church.

The gathered elected our new Vestry members Nancy Dini, Michael Harrigian, Steve Rolfe and Robert Wycoff, and also our Delegates and Alternates for the 102nd Convention of the Church in the Diocese of Los Angeles meeting next December.

Outgoing Vestry Members Gail Rolfe, Carolyn Seitz, Alan Steinbrecher (Senior Warden the past three years) and Bill Youngblood, were honored, as were Rector’s Cross recipients Gail Rolfe and Debra Spaulding.

I had the privilege of appointing the new Senior Warden for the Parish, Sylvia Smythe.

We are privileged to serve Christ in a parish comprised of warm, gifted, generous, and committed Christians, and it was wonderful to see so many of you out on a rainy Sunday. Enjoy the photos below and on the parish FB page.

¡Hasta pronto!

The vestry retreat will be Saturday February 13th

MEN’S GROUP: Next Tuesday, the 9th, is breakfast time at the Hennacy’s. With Valentine’s Day coming up, let’s look at some of the Bible’s LOVE passages-maybe they’ll inspire us with a Valentine message for our sweethearts! RSVP to Hal or Marguerite. Bring an appetite for congeniality, study….and something wonderful from the kitchen!
