The Great Vigil of Easter
The Vigil is one of the most dramatic, beautiful, and ancient services of the Church year. On this night we anticipate, affirm and celebrate the resurrection with the lighting of the Paschal Candle representing the light coming into the world. We baptize and renew our baptismal vows, and we celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter. The evening begins in candlelight as we recount God’s saving work in creation and ends with Alleluias once again resounding in great celebration of the mystery and hope of new life in the risen Christ. Join us at 7:30 PM on Saturday, April 8th, in the church.

Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week and is the day when we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem the week before his death and resurrection. The Bible reveals that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him by waving palm branches and covering his path with palm branches. Immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, he begins his journey to the cross.

Maundy Thursday
“Maundy” comes from the Latin, Mandatum, which means “commandment” or “mandate.” On this evening we celebrate the institution of the Eucharist by Jesus at the Last Supper. The command to love one another is represented in the “foot washing” by which in tradition we imitate the action of Jesus in John’s Gospel as an outward and visible sign of sharing in this love. Join us on Thursday, April 14, at 7 PM in the church.
