Pastoral Care at St. Edmund’s: Father George as been the Pastor par excellence here at St. Edmund’s, but when he departs on April 29th, Mo. Judy will need a lot help to meet all pastoral needs of our parishioners. A few years ago, some parishioners took a class with Father Colville to become lay Eucharistic visitors. If you are still interested in doing this, now is the time to start putting that class to use. If you did not take the class but are interested in participating in lay pastoral care, now it the time to start learning. Whether you took the class with Fr. Colville or not, the next step is to meet the requirements of The Diocese of Los Angeles which requires all to take a class on misconduct prevention before you begin this ministry unless you have taken it within the last 5 years and it is on file with the Diocese of LA. You can satisfy this requirement by attending the workshop that is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th
, at St. James Episcopal Church, in South Pasadena.
St. James Church will host a Safeguarding God’s Children and Safeguarding God’s People workshop on Saturday, April 28th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Rev. Rachel Nyback, Ph.D. will facilitate the training. Safe Church is a misconduct prevention program. For further information, contact Anilin Collado, human resources director at humanresources@ladiocese.org. or (213) 482-2040, ext. 250. The cost is ten dollars. For reservations, contact parish administrator Judy Felton, at office@sjcsp.org as soon as possible. St James Church is located at 1325 Monterey Rd., South Pasadena(626) 354-4721.
Trainings will be offered at later dates but they will most likely be offered in locations more distant from us. If you are interested in the class, please call and register yourself and then let Mo. Judy know; if you have already taken this class and wish to be part of this new ministry, please also let Mo. Judy know. In addition, Mo. Judy would like to meet with everyone interested in being a lay Eucharistic visitor on Wednesday, May 2nd, at 7 p.m. in the church library. Mo. Judy’s email is
