Saturday January 23rd 10am – Noon
St. Edmund’s has a Team of parishioners interested in assisting IRIS (Interfaith Refugee & Immigration Services), a Diocesan partner HERE, to welcome a refugee family to the Los Angeles area.
The Team will be supporting the family, depending on their needs, for a 3 to 6 month period and assisting IRIS in accomplishing tasks such as picking up the family at the airport, preparing a welcome meal for their first evening in their new home, helping to find furniture or other items to furnish an apartment for the family, providing opportunities for English conversation or transportation to job interviews or medical appointments among other possibilities.
The team members will choose the responsibilities we are most comfortable taking on and IRIS will take care of the rest.
If you are interested in participating, there is still room! You are invited to join our team at an informational meeting next Saturday, January 23, at 10:00 at St. John’s Cathedral located at 514 W. Adams Blvd, Los Angeles. If you cannot make the meeting but would still like to participate or have questions, please contact Gail Rolfe.
