Coadjutor Bishop Search Committee

Dear Diocesan Family,

As many of you know, our Bishop Coadjutor Search Committee is working on the process of identifying candidates for our next Bishop Diocesan. An essential part of that process is listening to as many voices as possible from throughout the Diocese to inform our profile. We are interested in listening to your vision of who we are and who we aspire to be as a diocese and the skills and qualities you believe are necessary for a leader who will shepherd us in the years to come.

Our Committee has developed a central way for inviting your input thorough a series of listening sessions held throughout the Diocese. We seek to hear from members of all our congregations and institutions during the next several weeks. Each session will provide an opportunity for sharing your perspective both in writing and verbally. Each of the geographical meetings will provide separate breakout groups for lay people and for clergy. In addition, separate groups will be available in Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish. Each session will be two hours in length and will be conducted through an intentional listening process established through the Kaleidoscope Institute.

We ask every Rector or Vicar in the Diocese to announce and publicize these events as soon as possible through whatever communication vehicles your congregation has available. For your convenience, we have also developed the following announcement should you wish to use it in congregational communications:

The Search Committee for our new Bishop Coadjutor wants to hear from you: we are seeking to listen to the perspectives of every member of our congregations throughout the Diocese of Los Angeles. Please share your perspective with us at one of the following listening sessions. Each session is two hours in length. Please register in advance by the links provided.

In order to plan appropriately for your participation, please register for one of the sessions listed below. We want to make sure we have enough materials available at each site. If you are unable to attend one of the sessions, we are developing an online and hard-copy survey as well. This announcement will be translated for distribution in the language groups noted above. Thank you for your consideration and participation.

(The Rev. Canon) Julian Bull

Chair, Bishop Coadjutor Search Committee
