A Howl of the Wolf for parishioner Billie Youngblood-Knolle, presented by San Marino Rotary with the Paul Harris Award on March 19th at a luncheon at San Gabriel Country Club. Paul Harris Fellows are members of the community who have made exceptional contribution to civic enhancement and well-being.

Following her departure from LIFE magazine and relocation to San Marino from NYC, Billie established the San Marino Quarterly in 1967, the first magazine devoted to our city’s citizens. A gifted public-relations professional, Billie served on the Diocesan Communications Committee for 25 years and is a consultant to our Parish Communications Committee.

Also locally, Billie served on the Board of Directors for Five Acres for ten years, providing care for abused and neglected children. As City Council appointed Trustee of the San Marino Crowell Public Library she was key to the seven year process yielding our beautiful light-filled town library.

Billie’s late husband Frank Knolle, USMA, chaired San Marino Rotary’s U.S. military academy appointee luncheon, and Billie’s own charitable activities in association with San Marino Rotary led to her enrollment into the distinguished league of Paul Harris Fellows. Joining Billie’s table at the country club were son Charlie and daughter-in-law Glynis, son Bill and daughter-in-law Janice, and three of her five grandchildren, Christine, Billy and Sarah. We’re proud of you Billie!
